A Morning In 17th Century

It’s amazing how a nice sunrise can provide an incredible sense of peace. That is what I found one morning in the Village of Sleepy Hollow, New York. There is an old historic site there called the Philipsburg Manor that dates back to 1693. Normally this place is full of people enjoying a pleasant spot on the Hudson River. However, at 6am on a beautiful fall morning, I had it all to myself.

Technical Notes: All of these images were shot with a Canon 5D Mark III and a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, except the Mill photograph which was done with a 70-200mm f/4 lens. All photographs were done from a tripod. In the last photograph there were several ducks floating around in the pond. They ended up looking like black blurs on the image because they were moving during the long exposure. Because these little guys wouldn’t sit still and pose, they were removed in Photoshop using the “Content Aware” Fill feature.
