This laboratory was built in the early 1960s by the National Lead Company and was a state-of-the-art research facility to formulate lead compounds for use in paint. As lead became known as a toxic substance for household use, and with the introduction of Latex paints in the mid 60’s, the need for lead paint declined. The property was abandoned in the 1980’s.
